Collingwood ruined my Life - Audience Storyboard

Some audience members have had their own stories to tell. Some have sent me a song. Some send in a photo. Keep it coming. We are all in this together!

Alison Maynard's Song - Alison Maynard sent me an old fashioned cassette tape with a recording of Greg Champion from the Coodabeens singing a song she wrote after we beat the Eagles last year - it really is very good. Alison wants everyone to know that Greg altered some of her work without her consent - she would never say that '16th place suits us best' - Thanks to the ABC for this one - Click here to listen

<<< This is Tom who is working on Fleety's show 'Word Up'. Tom is the big fella! Check out how proud of little Albert he is in this photo. Here Tom demonstrates how the average Magpie fan comes into being... while they are asleep! Come on Collingwood parents, you know you've done it!

Joe's story - Joe came along to an early preview. He told me this great story about his mate who he affectionately referred to as 'Mad Nick'. During the 2002 Grand Final Joe was sitting with a group of his mates, including Mad Nick. The end was nigh and one of the blokes in the group threw his cup of beer back over his head in frustration. It hit a Brisbane Lions fan and they weren't happy. However, they then went on to get their wires crossed and insisted on accusing Mad Nick of launching the amber missile. Nick denied thrice times that it was him and, in Joe's opinion, was unusually calm considering the situation. Unfortunately the Lions fan pushed Nick's button one time too many. So he bopped him on the head. He didn't punch him. Just bopped him on the head. All this was apparently going on very late in the last quarter.

Sowing the seeds of love? One woman told me the other night that she has two grand daughters and decided to make life interesting by signing one up as a Collingwood member, and the other as a Carlton member. You gotta love grandparents who encourage sibling rivalry!

>>>>Sob sent me this photo over the email. I've never met him. If he's been to the show then he hasn't introduced himself. I imagine his beautiful make up job was streaked with tears by the end of this particular day. Enough said.

Chugga Lugga Stubba Relive the opening to the show by listening to the commercial for Chugga Lugga Stubba. Listen to it now before it gets banned by the Liquor Licensing Board!

Frank's Story Frank bailed me up at the end of the show to let me know that back in the days of the Sporting Globe a strange phenomenon would occur in East Ivanhoe when Collingwood lost. He swore that because a lot of Collingwood supporters lived in the area, if the Pies had lost that day, then the none of the local newsagents would not sell even one copy of the Sporting Globe! Fair enough I reckon.

The Boundary Umpire in '79 who was as blind as Helen Keller, was apparently related to a Collingwood player and had former connections with Collingwood Cheer Squad, according to Damian Sullivan who was responsible for the most touching moment of the season when he brought his two sons to see the show. For the first time we had a members of the '64, '66 and '70 generation, '77, '79, '80 and '81 generation and the '02 and '03 generation all together in The Bobby Rose Room. We all shook hands. The feeling of togetherness was palpable!

The Bet Susan Cibau booked 4 tickets to see the show but only 3 of her friends turned up. On account of fact that the show she attended was not completely sold out I thought it was only fair to offer her a refund for the unused ticket. She politely refused, saying that the show was great, and not seeing the show was her friend's loss! She went on to suggest that I put the $15 on Collingwood to win the flag. She also suggested that if we won I should frame the cheque for next years show just like I did with 'The Umpire's Ten Bucks'! Here is the proof that I have now made that bet...

No idle threat! Kristen told me that when she was a 7 year old Magpie fan when she gave some serious thought to switching her allegiance to Fitzroy. She decided to speak to her mother Sue about her feelings. Sue had put a lot of hard work into making Kristen a Collingwood supporter and decided to bring out the big guns in a bid to a stop her daughters intended defection. She simply told Kristen "Well if you do that, you're out of the family!" It worked. And Kristen has been a Magpie fan ever since. I hope you are reading this Tom - forearmed is forewarned...
